I look at this book as a "gift" to us that took author Harriet Cavalli 20 years to compile. Harriet was a pianist who dedicated her career to music and dance. And musicians and dancers. It is a resource in which we have to look no further. I highly recommend this book as a reference and review for any dance teacher or dance musician.
The book is divided in four sections: music basics for those who are new to dance accompanying, and those dance teachers who need to brush up on the music terminology; a section for accompanists with an exhaustive study of how a ballet class works; a section for dance teachers who may be new to dance teaching including the do's and don'ts of working with an accompanist; and an invaluable section of printed music which the pianist can use for class and which the dance teacher can use as a reference from Harriet's writing.
